SAIF's Counselling Programs

All of our counselling is strength based and solution focused. This is short term counselling, provided free of charge, to provide intervention in, and/or prevention of, abusive relationships. We offer this program to adults & youth (ages 12-17) of all genders. Our programs are open to residents of St Albert, Sturgeon County & the surrounding areas. If you've experienced and/or witnessed family abuse, we're happy to talk with you.

Our individual counselling sessions are 50 minutes long (with 10 minutes to update case notes).

Please note: not everyone is ready for our counselling programs. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. If you need support services related to income, housing, legal, etc. we will refer you to the appropriate resources but please note, our intakes are not conducted everyday. When you call or email us, we schedule a 20 minute pre-screen over the phone. If counselling services are requested & appropriate for your situation, we'll schedule an in-person 1 hour intake with one of our counsellors.

If you are looking for immediate resources, please check out the Info & Resources tab.

We accept referrals from other organizations, medical professionals as well as individuals calling on behalf of themselves or a loved one.

"When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary."  - Mr. Rogers

Individual Adult Counselling

We offer a max. of 10 sessions per client to work on things like safety planning, coping skills, setting boundaries, & working towards healing.

Please note: we always have a duty to report when we believe a child is in danger. We ask for informed consent prior to a pre-screen call & again prior to  a full intake.

Adult Women's Group

Our group counselling sessions can run from 4-8 weeks. They are psycho-educational groups where each session is themed on a topic & participants are empowered to develop healthy relationship skills & behaviours.

Check back for our next group or let us know if you would like to be put on the waiting list. Intakes are done year round.

Individual Youth Counselling

We offer youth (ages 12-17) a max. of 10 sessions to work on things like safety planning, coping skills to reduce self harming behaviours, setting boundaries, & working towards healing.

Please note: informed consent from one or both parents/legal guardians is usually required for minors. We always have a duty to report when we believe a child is in danger.

We do not accept
walk ins

With a small team, we are simply not staffed to meet the needs of drop in clients. Please call or email to make an appointment with an intake worker. Thank you.
