Education
Violence has been recognized as a major health problem that affects not only the health of students in schools, but inhibits schools accomplishing their primary mission of education. It makes sense that schools should be involved in violence prevention. As educators are not experts in this area, it is important that they seek help from those who have that expertise. The SAIF Education program is designed to increase awareness and to curb violent and intimidating behaviours among elementary, junior high, and high school students. The program consists of interactive workshops incorporating videos, games, role-playing and discussions. Each workshop is modified to suit the age level of students and includes a range of topics specific to curriculum and issues. Topics include Anti-bullying, Anger Management, Sexual Harassment, Conflict Resolution, Healthy Relationships, Dating Violence, Tolerance and Empathy, Media Violence, and Family Violence.
Workshops are also available free of charge to community groups and organizations and are tailored to meet the needs of the participants.
